London Film and Comic Con (also known as LFCC) took place at Olympia 26th – 28th July, alongside the Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC).
I went for the first time in 2018, and despite being very quiet on Friday, it’s still the biggest show I’ve done! Thankfully, I learned from last year and brought along enough people to help me out so I avoided having another panic attack, which immediately makes it an improvement!
I met so many amazing people (some of whom I’d met at previous shows) and was pretty shocked at how many people said they enjoyed Moroda and Palom and came along to buy Amarah, or just to generally chat to me.
It really is very humbling. And I consider so many of you friends, now!
Yay for book dragons! 😀
Unfortunately, I’m kind of chained to my table, so I didn’t get nearly as much opportunity to wander around the show as I’d have liked.
I did manage to pop upstairs and check out YALC on Friday afternoon, which was lovely. There are so many fantastic authors, presses, and publishers, and it’s literally heaven for a book dragon!
Launch Event For Book Three – Amarah
I’d been really looking forward to this event because it was the first time for many people that they were actually seeing the third Linaria novel (aside from those who’d already watched my live unboxing video), but seeing something in the flesh is very different to seeing it on screen.
It’s a CHUNK!
Feedback from everyone has been SUPER positive, and I do think the book looks absolutely gorgeous. I worked with a new designer for the cover for Amarah and I have to say, it’s my favourite book cover so far!!
Check out Holly Jameson’s stuff if you haven’t already. She’s also responsible for the illustrations of Leillu – my blue dragon author mascot – as well as banners, images, and general awesome design/illustration wizardry!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who pre-ordered or bought a copy of Amarah, either paperback or eBook, and made the launch a roaring success.
I really hope you’re enjoying the third Linaria novel!
Lucky Lollipop Dip
When you write about dragons, you need dragon mascots! I have my dragon puppet mascots, who come with me to every show, and I’ve also been giving away these puppets to lucky attendees.
I always hope at least one dragon is won at any show that I do, and at LFCC, we had two extremely lucky lollipop winners!
They were able to adopt a dragon puppet of their very own:
If you’re ever coming to a convention where I have a table, do come and say hi! You might be lucky enough to win your very own dragon puppet!
